Graduate Practicum Opportunities
Zest for Life Counseling is proud to partner with our local universities and actively works with several clinical graduate mental health programs to train the next generation of mental health practitioners. Training is at the core of everything that we do. We take our work in the community seriously and hold great passion for assisting our community with living their Zest life!
The Zest Training Process
Prior to beginning clinical work all graduate therapist interns complete a 3-month training program throughout the year facilitated by our clinical team, which will prepare them to competently engage in best-practice approaches to clinically working with our community. Following the intensive training, graduate interns receive ongoing weekly support through structured individual and group peer mentorship, treatment team, and clinical supervision.
Who Do We Train?
Our clinical team has extensive experience providing clinical training and supervision to the following disciplines:
- Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)
- Master of Social Work (MSW)
- Master of Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT)
- Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC)
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP)
Practicum Compensation
Zest for Life Counseling provides graduate therapist interns with a generous stipend and non-financial benefits including a flexible schedule, frequently paid meals, time off, quarterly company activities and parties, company swag, and working with the best clinical team in the valley! Stipends and non-financial benefits are discussed during the live interview and solidified at the time that an offer letter is extended.
Application Timeline
Zest for Life Counseling generally begins receiving inquiries for placement in December, for the following year. Our clinical team will begin to extend invitations for interviews beginning in February. Final offer letters are made between March and April. Please note that clinical training begins the second week of May, and is completed as a cohort of 4-6 graduate therapist interns. If you are unable to begin in May, please note this in your cover letter and provide an explanation of the circumstance.
Please note that our clinical team invests a significant degree of time and resources into training each graduate student intern in preparation for post-graduate clinical practice. Our training and support is second to none. We view internships as a 12-month job interview, and desire to employ each graduate student intern following graduation. Priority is given to applicants desiring employment following graduation.
